Greek warmth on a cold day.

Many people travel these days, sometimes for business and sometimes for pleasure. If you happen to be to doing some and might be in the Cobourg area, then a treat awaits you. A wholesome meal made with love and caring.

The Corfu restaurant located at 8 King street east is a small quaint and warm place to be for both you and your culinary needs, the food is excellent, and the staff aim to please in a typical warm and Greek family kinda way.

The place has been in business since 2007, its family owned and operated, the menu is very Mediterranean based, with of course Greek food being the main dishes. Even better still is the fact that everything is made with loving care using ingredients and processes from scratch, no package stuff in this place. Its a cosy spot with small intimate tables, that allow you to sneak a peek with preparations in the kitchen, and the odd towering flame from some of the special dishes they produce.

We chose to try the pork Souvlaki this time around, and yes I know many people may find this an obvious choice, but let me tell you, I have had my share of this dish far and wide, and while one might think its a no brainer for a Greek restaurant, I have had my share of mediocre samples.

So what got me excited about this staple dish, and this warm spot in Cobourg's downtown. Well for starters the starters, a fresh and crispy Greek salad, accompanied with some warm pita bread drizzled with olive oil, feta cheese that was not to sharp, but creamy textured as if churned by Hellenic angels.

The main course, and this is sometimes where things start to go wrong, a bed of rice, cooked just right, potatoes in the Greek traditional way, warm and mouth watering, but not leaving a bitter taste at the back of your mouth . The crowning of this dish of course is the skewers of perfectly grilled tender mouth watering morsels of pork, browned to perfection and just waiting for you to lustfully place them in your mouth.

Culinary sensuality, made with love and affection, warm like the the blue Mediterranean sea's. If your wondering about price, you need not do so, everything on the menu is quite reasonable. http://www.thecorfugrill.com/index.php
